Responsible for news and update search, gathering quality information, writing stories with accuracy, and editing contents in timely manner

Main Tasks

• Find sources and gather information for news stories
• Develop and maintain relationships with external sources such as media outlets, business and other contacts
• Attend events, schedule meetings and conduct interviews with sources and other stakeholders
• Produce multimedia content such as videos, photos and audio clips

Specific Duties

• Monitor industry trends and breaking news and evaluate competitive news coverage
• Research current events in the field to come up with stories
• Find engaging news to attract readers’ attention
• Use all means of research to obtain the most of stories; online and offline
• Establish and maintain contacts with media outlets, businesses, and others useful sources
• Create an informational database for contacts
• Engage in conversations with these contacts regularly to build relationship
• Develop stories and pitch to contacts for content, including but not limited to location scouting
• Identify and research upcoming events that may be relevant to the reporting work
• Contact organizers of the events to secure a ticket or press pass
• Attend relevant industry events to network and meet potential sources
• Reach out to sources and stakeholders to set up one-on-one meetings
• Prepare questions for the interviews with the team, as well as the sources and stakeholders
• Utilize video, audio, and photography equipment to capture images and sound
• Gather presentable images, audio clips, or videos needed for the content
• Abide with all applicable laws and regulations
• Take charge of all contents and its’ content journey map, including but not limited to planning and scheduling required interviews, content collection, content writing, content editing, asking for approvals from Executive Editor for all contents, distribution, evaluating readers’ responses and making changes for improvement.
• Ensure that all written contents are unbiased and no misleading or/and misinterpretations or/and misunderstandings can be formed.
• Take responsibility and held accountable on any impact caused due to any written content from the Newsroom
• Analyze data and feedback from readers and determine areas for improvement as needed

• Any degree graduate in a related field, preferably Burmese major
• Minimum of 2 years of reporting experience (online magazine/journal experience is a plus)
• Acquire business networks of related field is a plus
• Strong grasp of Burmese grammar, punctuation, and composition
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Must be self-motivated and proactive
• Must have creativity and problem solving skills
